Readings for the Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Deacon Mike's homily has us thinking about...
We're preparing to prepare for Lent.
God is ever calling us into a deeper relationship through the Holy Spirit.
In order to be conformed to the image of Christ, we must know him, spend time with him in scripture. He wants to share his life with us!
We are called to share Christ's mission, his joy, his suffering.
Through his grace and gift of courage, we can look into our own faults (the plank in our own eye), and grow in the virtues of humility and detachment.
WHEN OUR LOVING ACTIONS ARE DONE IN RESPONSE TO GOD'S LOVE AND MERCY, WE GLORIFY THE NAME OF GOD!
The fruit of a tree shows the care it has had…
For every tree is known by its own fruit.
- Luke 6:44
At the very beginning of creation, God places human beings in a garden and charges them to tend it. Instead of fulfilling God’s design for us to exercise faithful stewardship, we humans went our own way. It is no accident that the Gospel of John, Mary of Magdala first sees the risen Lord in a garden and mistakes him for the gardener (John 20:15). John is signaling that Jesus is the true, faithful, perfect steward of creation – the good gardener, the ultimate Adam (1 Cor 15:45). Like a good gardener, Jesus offers us the water of his word. He fertilizes our souls with his body and his blood. He prunes the parts of us that are not bearing fruit to free the rest of our branches to bear more abundantly.
Unlike a tree, we can choose to walk away from the wise ministrations of our good Gardener. How often do we let the word of God soak down to our roots? Do we allow him to till the soil of our souls so that his eucharistic food can nourish us? Do we resist being pruned?
How can you be more receptive to God’s desire to produce good fruit in and through you?

Donation boxes will be located at the main entrance of the school from March 6 – April 18. Please take some time to go through your family’s old shoes to see what you can donate. More information a
